HI! I'm Ivano, a philosopher of science and a professional classical musician.
I was born in Molfetta (Apulia, Italy) and, after a classical high school education, I earned degrees in music (MMus Organ and Composition, Conservatory of Bari) and philosophy (BA Philosophy, University of Bari).
Fascinated by the history and philosophy of science –especially at the intersection with epistemology, aesthetics and technology, I obtained a MA degree in History, Philosophy and Culture of Science from the Ruhr University Bochum (Germany).
As a musician, I played in more than 100 classical concerts as a solo organist, harpsichordist and member of orchestras and ensembles, specializing particularly in the historically informed performance of early and baroque music.
Currently, I'm completing a PhD in History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Bari, working on topics related to the philosophy of robotics and computation. I'm also interested in scientific understanding, scientific objectivity and the philosophy of mathematics.
In my spare time, I enjoy learning foreign languages and reading about historical linguistics, biological taxonomy, and astronomy. I’m also passionate about woodworking, travelling, and climbing, and I love spending time with friends –preferably with a good beer in hand.
Feel free to browse this site or reach out if you’d like to learn more about what I do or explore possible collaborations.
